Attempted murder investigation launched after man stabbed on street

An attempted murder investigation is underway after a man was knifed on a Salford street.

Emergency services were called out to Capella Walk, near Lower Broughton Road, shortly after 10pm on Sunday night (July 6).

Greater Manchester Police says it was called out to a disturbance at the scene.

A man in his 50s was found with stab injuries. He was treated by paramedics at the scene before being taken to hospital.

The victim’s condition is currently described as stable by GMP.

A man in his 50s was arrested at the scene on suspicion of attempted murder.

He remains in custody for questioning this morning, GMP says.

Images from the scene showed a large police presence on nearby Lower Broughton Road and Heath Avenue late on Sunday night.

Officers recovered a knife in connection with the attempted murder investigation.
